Resonant Microwaves to Fracture SARS-CoV-2 in Blood: Two Informal Proposals.
Updated 1 May 2020
This Safe resonant microwave energy fractures virus lipid membranes research report seems very interesting because, although evidently focused upon fracturing virus lipid membranes in airborne water droplets by exciting specifically targeted confined acoustic vibrations, to me it suggests a potential vaccine production approach and, separately, a microwave radiation method to treat SARS patients.
If live SARS-CoV-2 could be relatively easily grown in large quantity, perhaps it could also be reliably and very efficiently fractured with the resonant microwave radiation described in the report, leaving intact but noninfectious components which might prompt a strong immune response and thus provide a safe and effective vaccine.
Separately perhaps blood from dangerously ill patients could be externally exposed (via a transfusion loop) to the same microwave radiation to selectively destroy the virus. If human blood components contain important native factors which would also be disrupted by the radiation (especially genetic components), the therapy would probably be too destructive to be useful of course. However if the microwave frequency is very tight and the size and structure of all important native blood components is such that they can't significantly resonate at that frequency, the microwave radiation might very selectively destroy essentially only SARS-CoV-2. Speculating very wildly, perhaps fractured SARS-CoV-2 debris in the blood would enhance immune system performance in some measure as well (if it didn't amplify a dangerous cytokin storm).
I'm just a wholly outside amateur observer in this field and I have no sense of the spectrum of size and structure of healthy human blood components. If those who are studied in this area suspect few if any native blood components include structures which might resonate destructively due to being similar in size and structure to the targeted SARS-CoV-2 lipid membrane, this concept might have merit and be worthy of pursuit. If this information isn't known perhaps some hasty initial research is warranted.
That's all I can offer at this time other than this extremely simplistic observation: If I became desperately ill with a blooming cytokin storm and thus would very likely die from SARS-CoV-2, I'd agree to try the blood therapy method for the simple reason that I'd have nothing to lose. I might even agree at an earlier time if a physician I highly respected felt strongly that otherwise a lethal cytokin storm, though not yet accelerating, was inevitable. But of course I'd highly prefer to remain healthy thanks to a vaccine.
All my respects and appreciation for the legions of superb scientists, practitioners, and others who are dedicating their hearts and even personal safety to conquering this horrible molecule.
